As we plan for the future, it's important that we preserve the character and spirit of our Town while providing for the needs of current & future generations.
The state government has a focus on Metronet and development around transport hubs. With three train stations in our Town, Bassendean is required to accommodate our share of the state government's infill targets to stop further urban sprawl.
I have championed the "BassenDream Our Future" engagement project to understand our community's vision for our Town in the years ahead before we develop our new planning strategy and scheme which will guide development over the coming years.
I have been advocating for good quality, sustainable design that does not sacrifice our open spaces and is in harmony with the character and spirit of our Town. Higher density development should be located near our transport hubs and activity centres so that residents have access to the services that they need and our local businesses have the support they need to survive. I strive to find effective strategies to incentivise tree retention and more innovative forms of development that will deliver built form outcomes that add to the amenity of our Town and provide a variety of housing options to meet the needs of our current and future residents.
